Thanks to lots of shameless shilling on my part and some possible voting irregularities, it seems that Ham & Cheese on Wry is the 2006 TLL Lesbian Blog of the Year.

Lori of Hahn at Home technically received the most votes but she removed herself from the running because she felt some people voted for her site more than once.

Wow. That takes a lot of integrity and class and Lori deserves high praise. And my sincere gratitude... Thank you, Lori! You're truly awesome.

Thank you to everyone who nominated and voted for my blog. And thanks and a big welcome to all the new readers who stopped by and patiently read through all of my posts from the schmoopie to the insane. I'm happy to have you here.

And finally, thanks to Kelly at The Lesbian Lifestyle who organized this whole shebang. I know it was a lot of hard work and I know I speak for everyone involved when I say your efforts are much appreciated. Thank you!

Just a reminder/desperate plea to vote for your favorite lesbian blog in the TLL's Lesbian Blog of the Year competition. It doesn't have to be my blog you vote for, mind you. what about BoB?

The Best of Blogs Awards are back, ladies and germs. As some of you will recall, I was nominated in the LBGT category last year... which is sort of funny to me because I am, after all, The Worst Lesbian Ever ™.

Alas, I did not win but I made a very respectable showing -- third or fourth place (out of 10) I think? Well, out of the two women nominated, I came in first at least. Um, woo hoo? Actually no, that sucks. We need more women among the ranks! I love my gay boys but there are far more than two BoB-worthy lesbian bloggers out there!! If you know of any, please nominate them.

Kindly read the rules first. For example, your submission doesn't automatically guarantee that the blog will be a finalist. There's a committee or some such that whittles the nominees down to 10. Oh, and exnay with the nominating of your own blog. It's frowned upon. Not that I tried. I swear I didn't. It's in the rules! Read for yourself.

Truthfully, the contest stressed me out a little bit last year so I'm not going to lobby hard for a nomination. If the honor is bestowed upon me, I will accept it humbly and graciously... and then set about stuffing the ballot box with renewed efficiency and vigor. If I'm not given the nod, I'll genuinely root for my fave among the nominees.

Woo hoo! I've pulled into a distant third place in the BoB Awards!!! Suh-weet!! Please help me maintain my bronze medal status! For just 52 cents a day -- the price of a cup of coffee -- you can make a diff... oh wait, that's a different appeal entirely. This one is Sally Struthers-free and won't cost you anything, I promise! this & that

I just came back from a phenomenal post-holiday department lunch at Bread Bar at Tabla. We made sure to eat plenty as it was paid for by the huge corporate behemoth that employs us. The only problem is, dense meals in the middle of the day really do me in. As we speak, I'm locked in a ferocious battle with the sleepies. I could seriously put my head down on my desk right now and nod off dreaming of rosemary nann and raitas.

I'm also in one of those moods where I don't feel like answering the phone and/or returning calls. The voicemail light on my phone is beckoning but I just don't want to deal. It's not that I'm feeling anti-social... it has more to do with the fact that I'm behind on several freelance projects and don't want to have to fib my way through the progress report. Ugh. Anyone want to subcontract some work from me? I seriously spread myself too thin. If you're into photo editing and research, let me know.

In other news, there's a new dating prospect! However, I don't want to say much yet for fear of jinxing things. I will say that the candidate has been screened by two members of My Esteemed Reader Panel (MERP) and they both approve. Furthermore, she's gorgeous, funny and slightly quirky. I think I'm smitten. It's too early to say for sure but for now, I've got the flutter in my stomach and an ever-present coy smile on my face.

We're having dinner this weekend which will be the true test of our compatibility. Will we be able to sustain conversation? Will our chemistry in real life mirror our email and phone chemistry? More importantly, will she be a belcher? Or will she have hands like Skelator? Is she really a senior citizen masquerading as a 31-year-old woman? Will she have crunchy bangs? Or an affinity for Tweety Bird activewear? Will she wear a rain hat even though it's not raining? How about moon boots or white sweatpants? God, I hope not. Wish me luck, people!
