ham and cheese on wry

anger is an energy

I was on vacation last week. I didn't travel far so I have no exotic stories to tell. I visited the family, hung out with Best Friend Since Kindergarten at the beach and took care of some personal chores at home. It was great, actually. By the time I returned to work on Tuesday, I was good and relaxed. I was sporting a chill attitude and a slowed-down cadence. If you didn't know better, you'd think I had just spent some quality time with a monstrous-sized bong.

But I assure you my high was natural. It was also really short-lived. By the time Friday rolled around, I was ripping a coworker a new one. This whole "full-time job" thing really sucks dick. I must rescue myself from the business world before I'm lost for good.

A quick perusal of my archives dating back to July 2007 will show that I haven't posted much. That's when the new job started, as well as the slow decay of my blog.

It has just sucked the life out of me. I won't blame a lack of time for not posting though. Regardless of my hectic schedule, I can always find time to do things. For example, while I was supposed to be working today, I managed to go through my iTunes library and hunt down album titles and artwork for all the orphaned tracks. You see, when I'm flipping through the albums in Cover Flow View, ain't nothing worse than the semi-transparent black square with the musical note staring right at me. Upon encountering such an anomaly, I must remedy it right away. The voices in my head dictate it. There will be persistent itch in my brain if I don't obey.

Issues of OCD aside, my point is, I'm good at slacking and/or distracting myself with meaningless tasks. Work never gets in the way of such things. Usually. I just don't have the oomph anymore. Work hasn't just drained me of availability, it's also drained me of my desire to create. And that's just sad. But there's hope! When I'm good and miserable, I usually find my muse and I am by all accounts an angry, miserable fuck these days so it could be boom times for Ham & Cheese on Wry once again. We'll see.

While I have the floor, I must make a very public apology to one miss Maisnon. She was kind enough to spend a day with me during my brief jaunt to San Francisco and show me the sights. I promised her a public shout-out... and I never got around to it because I suck. Better late than never, right? RIGHT?

How cool is that though? Someone who never met me before gave up her Sunday and drove me around her fair city. I got to see the Golden Gate Bridge, Pacific Heights, the Marina and all points in between. So thank you, Maisnon. You're the coolest.

Oooh, I almost forgot, I also had the opportunity to do something that you won't find in any edition of Frommers and it's a glaring omission if you ask me. Behold me picking the nose of the dragon thingy at the Chinatown Gate...

Picking a Winner in San Francisco

Classy, right? I assure you, it's the only landmark I desecrated with a crude gesture. Well, on camera...
